WWL: Inaugural Poetry

A conversation with Elizabeth Alexander
Published: January 20, 2009 - 9:47am

Poet Elizabeth Alexander believes in the power of words to change people.  She's a Yale Professor of African American Studies and English Literature.  Later today, she'll be reading an original work for the inauguration of Barack Obama in front of a huge global audience.  We spoke with her about the words she'll choose - and what she hopes the arts can do in the new administration.
