WWL: America's Parks
"...wild flowers should be enjoyed unplucked where they grow" -Theodore Roosevelt
If you've ever hiked in Yosemite, or even in People's State Forest, you know the value of public parks. But the case for national and state parks wasn't always so clear cut. Coming up, Where We Live, a conversation about the people who've fought to protect some of America's favorite places and the epic clash of values over how to use our nation's natural resources. We'll be joined by Dayton Duncan, co-producer of the new Ken Burns series, The National Parks: America's Best Idea as well as Richard Sellars, author of Preserving Nature in The National Parks, now out with a new forward from Yale Press. They'll help us consider how economic and ecological changes are challenging the parks system. Also, Eric Hammerling of the Connecticut Forest & Park Association will be in-studio to talk about the history and the future of Connecticut's Parks.

******The National Parks: America's Best Idea airs on CPTV September 27th-October 2nd at 8pm.
