The middle of the 20th century saw a building boom in Connecticut – and the spread of an iconic architectural style.

Modern architecture in Connecticut ranges from the small-scale work of the “Harvard Five” – a group of architects who brought a new style to the suburban landscape of New Cannan – to prominent office structures, like the Pirelli building on New Haven’s Long Wharf.

Today, Where We Live, we’ll talk with CPTV’s Diane Smith about her new documentary “Living Modern in Connecticut” – exploring the history of modern architecture in the state, and what we’re doing to preserve some of our most important modernist buildings.

And we'll hear about an initiative by the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation to save some of our oldest structures - Connecticut barns.
