Paula Young Shelton comes from a family that walked the front lines of the fight for civil rights. Her father is Andrew Young, former congressman, Atlanta mayor and friend of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Paula Young Shelton has written a children’s book about growing up in a civil rights household titled Child of the Civil Rights Movement. It tells these well known stories from the perspective of a young girl, thrown into an important historical moment, concluding with the march from Selma to Montgomery.
